Hi friends,

Can you believe that it is already July, and we are full on into summer?  July 4th was a super busy week, and guests enjoyed beautiful weather and spectacular sunsets here at the Inn.  The temperatures are a little cooler than normal here in the Texas Hill Country, and we have had some much-needed rain, which is keeping the flowers blooming, and the grass and trees green.  While the rain is reducing the need for watering, it is keeping us busy with mowing and trimming.

You may have heard us refer to Lynn as “maintenance”.  This title fits since despite his full- time job, he has the major responsibility of making sure the grounds are maintained and for the general upkeep of the 25 acres, multiple buildings, and equipment (with my help of course).  This title, however, was originally bestowed on Lynn by a grumpy vendor that drove up the driveway, saw Lynn working on a piece of farm equipment, stopped and asked, “Are you Maintenance?”   Since that episode, he regularly hints to me that he thinks “we should fire the Maintenance Guy”.  To which, I usually reply, “I kind of like him, and he works cheap, so let’s keep him.”

All joking aside, Lynn really does enjoy working around the property and finds it rewarding to see the results of his efforts.  One recent outdoor project came about after multiple incidents with the cows and our decorative water fountain.  We decided to move it onto our outdoor dining deck where the calves could no longer drink from it and knock it over.  After relocating it and making some minor adjustments it looks beautiful in its new location.  Now guests can enjoy a beautiful and peaceful water feature while having breakfast from the deck or breakfast room.

Last year, we found an old farmhouse dinner bell during a shopping trip to the Fredericksburg Trade Days, and we finally got around to putting it up near the ramp leading to the breakfast room.  We placed it on a ceder post from a fallen tree on the property, and it looks as if it has been there for years and was made for this exact spot.

Next on the list includes painting outdoor tables and chairs on our deck and replacing some fence posts near our front entrance.  Actually, we always have a list of projects, but we try to be intentional about taking time out of our busy schedules to have fun, relax and enjoy the fruits of our labor.  After the fountain project, we relaxed on the deck with our iced tea, listened to the flow of the fountain and the doves cooing and watched the movement of the sunlight glistening across the trees and landscape.
We always appreciate when our guests compliment us on the attention to detail that they notice in our decorating and landscaping.  We want guests to feel as if they have stepped back in time from the moment they enter the gate and drive down the winding driveway, and that they can immediately relax and enjoy the tranquility and beauty of this place.

We hope you are having a wonderful summer, and that you are taking time to relax and enjoy the fruits of your labors.  May God bless you and your family as we all reflect on how blessed we are to live in America and celebrate the month of our Nation’s Independence!

See you soon!
