Happy Valentine’s friends!
Love is in the air here in the Texas Hill Country. Many couples are getting ready to enjoy a romantic get-away weekend here at the Inn, as well as a daughter who wanted to share her previous fun glamping experience with her mom. We are thrilled that you are taking time to make these sweet memories here at our little slice of heaven!
February is a very busy month for Wimberley visitors, and we started out the month with a group of women here for a retreat with lots of learning, activities and food! It was such a pleasure to host these amazing entrepreneurs and be a small part of helping them to take time out of their busy lives to gather and plan for their futures. It was a joy to see them enjoying meals, spending time relaxing around the fire-pit, as well as sharing their experiences, hopes and dreams.
Lynn and I finally took time at the beginning of the month to plan for the upcoming year to make sure we are on target with our goals. We decided Winters Mill Cabin would be our escape for the retreat. It brought back such fond memories of our time when we built the cabin and began decorating with cool antiques and architectural finds. Even more cherished memories include our weekend breaks from the city, and finally our move to the cabin while building the main house and carriage house. We spent most of our mornings with coffee on the porch, listening to the cows mooing, doves cooing, turkeys gobbling, and watching for the birds and wildlife. In the evenings we always made sure we were back on the porch to watch the sunsets, with a glass of wine or iced tea. As soon as the sun went down, we’d linger longer to listen for the first calls of the owls, and the Chuck Wills Widow (sounds similar to Bob White), and then we often stayed up even later watching the amazing displays from the night skies while we talked or just relaxed as we swung on the porch swing. It was such a magical experience that we decided then and there that we would design all our guest rooms to have plenty of outdoor rocking chairs and seating with expansive space to view the sunsets, rolling hills and valleys and wildlife.
