Hi Friends,
Fall is already in the air here at the Inn! The cooler weather has inspired us to work on some of our outdoor projects like cleaning and organizing the garage. We are also spending more time enjoying our coffee and iced tea on the porch and getting together with friends for outdoor dining and live music at several of our Wimberley restaurants and bars.
In Wimberley, Willow Lake Watering Hole and Mercantile is one of our new favorite live music venues. In addition to several great local restaurants, Wimberley has a new food truck, the Neon Armadillo, that serves high-quality Tex Mex BBQ.
Lynn and I took time to go visit family and take vacation in August. It was a treasure to get together with Lynn’s parents, sisters and their families, as well as my sister and nieces and nephews. We sadly lost my mother soon after her birthday in June, and the loss was felt even more while we were visiting. So thankful for my sweet amazing mom, and for the many wonderful cherished memories our family has shared with her.
On the drive home from our visit, we stopped at several antique stores along the way in Missouri and Arkansas and found a few treasures to add to our collection. Guests often compliment the attention to detail in our decorating and furnishings and often ask where we find the antiques. Our first two pieces we purchased from my dear great aunts. The old china cabinet now located in the Winters Mill Cabin, and the oak chest of drawers upstairs in the main house guest room were the inspirations that started a lifelong love of antique shopping. It has been a joy to furnish and decorate each guest room as well as our house with special pieces that we have found on these fun shopping excursions. We are always on the look-out for that perfect decorative embellishment such as the old blue wood cook stove in our breakfast room that we found in one of our favorite antique shops near Blanco.
We hope you and your family had a wonderful Labor Day weekend! Here at the Inn, guests enjoyed a fun and quiet weekend. The evenings were cool enough for drinks and smores as they gathered around the firepit with friends. The beautiful views and amazing stars enjoyed from the hot tubs were also a big hit!
Fall is a wonderful time to visit the Texas Hill Country. There is always so much to do and enjoy in and around Wimberley. Whether you come for the great shopping, live music, beautiful drives, delicious food and drinks, or fun events, be sure to come relax with us at the Inn at Sunset Mill Ranch and enjoy:
- Delicious homemade breakfasts each morning
- Snacks and Treats always available in the Breakfast Room off the main house
- Firepits surrounded by Adirondack chairs perfect for sharing drinks and smores
- An outdoor movie on the big screen under the stars around the firepit
- Dramatic sunsets and awesome views from your patio or deck
- Walking Trails throughout the 25 acres where you will likely see wildlife and birds
- Watching the big game as you gather with friends around the old silo bar and firepit
- Stargaze from one of the outdoor hot tubs
We look forward to the cooler temperatures and to welcoming y’all this fall!
Lynn & Diana
