Merry Christmas Friends!

We are enjoying beautiful cool crisp mornings on the porch, long walks on the property, and evenings of stargazing and laughter with friends sitting around the firepits while savoring wine or hot cocoa and smores.  The beautiful display of fall colors overlooking the hills and valleys viewed from our porches makes it difficult to give up the pumpkins and fall décor and begin the process of decorating for Christmas.  We are so blessed to live in the beautiful Texas Hill Country where we get to experience such mild and pleasant winters!

A few days after Thanksgiving we made a quick trip to Illinois to visit family.  We had good quality time with dinner and drives with Lynn’s parents and joined his sister and brother-in-law at our favorite pizza place.  We also enjoyed good times with my sister and nieces and nephews.  We attended basketball games and cheered on our amazing nephews, Blaise and Luke, who are both super stars and bright lights in our family.   It is always a pleasure to visit our hometown, and we so enjoy when we see beloved cousins we don’t get to see often enough and friends from our high school days.   It was especially sentimental to attend one of the basketball games at the grade school that Lynn and I both attended many years ago.

After returning from our trip, we began decorating for Christmas and partaking in the local festivities such as going to look at lights in Wimberley and surrounding small towns.  Our favorite is the Emily Ann Trail of Lights just five minutes from the Inn.  From now until December 26th, most nights offer live entertainment, a yule log where guests can enjoy complimentary marshmallows and hot chocolate, and other special events throughout the trail.

This week, after having a wonderful lunch with friends, I spent the afternoon browsing the local shops and my heart swelled with appreciation for our little town.  Wimberley has really gotten into the spirit of Christmas.  With all the lights and Christmas music and decorations, it looks and feels as if the town is part of a Hallmark movie.  Returning home from this joyful adventure, I am motivated to finish with the decorating and shopping.  From now through the end of the year there are numerous local holiday events.  Check out the live music schedule and other festivities by clicking this link: Hometown Holidays – Wimberley Valley Chamber of Commerce

This year we are especially blessed to be welcoming two new bundles of joy to our family.  Our amazing nephew, Landon and his sweet wife, Bekah are expecting twins very soon! We know that our precious Wren is going to be an awesome big sister to these baby girls.  What a wonderfully blessed Christmas gift this is to our family!

Thank you, sweet friends, for making it such an incredible year here at the Inn.  It was fun to meet many new guests, and what an honor to see so many returning guests, even some from the early days of our first year.  We hope you and your family have a very blessed Christmas and New Year!
