Hi Friends, Happy NEW Year!
We hope that you had a wonderful Christmas and New Year’s celebration! It was a pleasure to have a busy December with guests enjoying Christmas and the New Year’s celebrations here at the Inn. The cooler mornings and evenings have provided the perfect weather for enjoying hot tubs and sitting around the firepits. Along with the cooler temperatures we have had plenty of sunshine, making it especially nice for hiking around the property, taking beautiful country drives, and strolling through the shops in Wimberley.
Like many of you, in this NEW year we are trying to clear out the clutter, implement changes to make our lives simpler, and begin making plans for the coming year. During the holidays, we had a sweet young couple stay with us that were here specifically to plan and set goals for 2025. It reminded us of when we first moved to Texas several years ago. We found a great church and joined an amazing small group of friends there, which soon became like our family. Since then, together we have shared our joys, prayers and sorrows, our weekends and holidays, and have watched their children grow up and start having families of their own.
Our first study after joining that group was a year-long journey through a book entitled Intimate Encounters which was a guide for building stronger marriage and family relationships. The last chapter of the book was about goal setting and planning. At the completion of the study, we met for a weekend retreat at a beautiful old bed and breakfast in Chappel Hill about an hour away from our homes in north Houston. We spent time together as a couple and as a group going over our goals and discussing what we learned from our study. It was at this Retreat that Lynn and I began planning to implement our dream of owning a Bed and Breakfast in the Texas Hill Country.
It is easy to get caught up in the day-to-day cares of life with work and other commitments and fail to prioritize working on the important things like building relationships and taking time for vacations and retreats. But that Retreat was life changing for us, and since then we are committed to taking time every January for a retreat to look back at the previous year, spend time praying and talking about our plans and adventures, and writing down our goals.
We have remained close friends with that small group after all these years, and now we get to host their visits and retreats at our B&B. And since moving to Wimberley, we have been blessed to become part of another small group of amazing friends that are now family. Life is so rich when you get to share it with others! What’s more, we have the added benefit of getting to meet You, our new friends, and hear your stories and cheer you on in your hopes and dreams.
Whether you are just taking time for a romantic get-away, a vacation filled with fun and adventure, a weekend time out from busyness, or a relaxing retreat to set personal or professional goals we would love to help you plan your next trip to the Inn at Sunset Mill Ranch.
Wishing you all the best in 2025!
Lynn & Diana
