Summer has officially arrived here in the Texas Hill Country!  That means one thing – we’re enjoying fresh Fredericksburg peaches and there are vine-ripened tomatoes sitting on our kitchen windowsill.  Some of our sweet guests brought us the first batch of peaches a couple of weeks ago after making a day trip to see the sights and enjoy the countryside.  This week we also carved out some time to take a scenic drive to Fredericksburg to pick up a half bushel of ripe peaches – enough to enjoy fresh peaches and cream as well as a home-made pie or two!

Every year we make improvements to our vegetable garden located down in the valley where the soil is rich and the high fencing keeps the wildlife on the outside.  We planted extra plants hoping that the birds will save some for us!   Last year Lynn installed an irrigation system and this year we built raised beds and had tons of extra good soil and lots of mulch delivered.  With all this and the recent rains, the garden looks beautiful.

Last year we built a greenhouse with old barn wood and trimmed it out with rusty tin and repurposed windows.  Next on our growing list of improvements is to add benches inside and landscape around the greenhouse.  We added a picnic table under the big, beautiful oaks next to the garden which makes it a great place to relax after hiking around the property or working in the garden.

While it may be too warm to sit around the firepits, the mornings are perfect for sitting on the porches and decks, enjoying the cool breeze with coffee and watching the birds and wildlife.  Mornings at the Inn are also great for savoring the home-made breakfasts either outdoors on the deck under the old oak trees or appreciating the views through the breakfast room windows with the comfort of the cool air-conditioning.

We would like to wish all the men a Happy Father’s Day and hope you have a fun weekend  filled with extra special blessings!  This June we would like to honor Lynn’s amazing dad for Father’s Day and his sweet mom for her birthday.  I am so thankful for Lynn, not only for the amazing man of faith and character that he is, but also for all the skills and talents that he possesses.  I can thank his dad that Lynn is fearless and skilled at building, fixing, and maintaining everything around the house, and for his love of gardening and fishing.  And I can thank Lynn’s mom for her Godly example of how to bless and care for her sweet family.  I am so thankful that Lynn’s parents warmly welcomed me into their family.  We are looking forward to getting together and enjoying cherish time with both of our sweet families soon!
