Hi Friends,
May showers are bringing some much-needed rain to the Texas Hill Country, and so the flowers, grass, trees and gardens are beautiful and thriving here at the Inn at Sunset Mill Ranch. The cool mornings and evenings make it the perfect time to take a walk on the property or have a cup of coffee or a drink on the porch or deck.
The hills, views, trees and wildflowers in and around Wimberley make for the perfect setting for weddings, and the venues in the area are plentiful with several just a few minutes from the Inn. This has brought us not only the happy couples, but also lots of friends and families of the wedding parties to stay with us, especially those who want a quiet, peaceful place to unwind before and after the wedding festivities.
One of our favorite recent weddings was that of our beautiful niece, Lexi and her handsome husband Noah. We had such a fun time celebrating with them and the rest of Lynn’s family. The ceremony was especially lovely because our nephew, Landon, officiated, and our sweet two-year old niece, Wren was such an adorable flower girl. We also got to meet her precious baby sisters and our nieces, Myla and Adalee. It was such a pleasure to get time with old and new friends and know that Lexi and Noah are surrounded by an amazing group of friends that will be there to mentor and encourage them as they begin their lives together.
We would like to wish a very Happy Mother’s Day to all of you amazing women who have blessed us in so many ways. We are especially thankful for Lynn’s sweet mom, and so happy that we get to visit her and Lynn’s dad and our family soon. This is our first Mother’s Day without Diana’s cherished mom, and we honor her along with Lynn’s mom, our grandmothers and aunts, and many other dear women who have made our lives rich with their love, wisdom, laughter and prayers. These women have passed on a rich heritage to us, as well as some wonderful memories of gathering with family and friends.

All these women were amazing cooks, and they passed their love of cooking and baking on to me as I began honing my love of culinary talents. As a young child I recall watching my grandmother prepare her famous biscuits that tasted like a little piece of heaven, especially when you added her hand-churned butter and homemade jams. When Grandma knew that family would be visiting, she would always welcome us with chocolate cake or pudding and homemade ice cream. We seek to create this same experience when our guests visit here at the Inn, with plenty of homemade treats always available in the breakfast room.
In fact, we want you to feel like you have stepped back into a simpler, and more relaxed time the moment you come through the gate where you will likely see deer and other wildlife and cows grazing as you meander down the driveway to the Winters Mill Cabin, or to your king suite in one of the Carriage House Rooms, or the Granary Room or the Glamper near the old cedar barn.
Like many good cooks, most of the recipes that our mothers, grandmothers and aunts created were not written down, but were etched in their mind, and the memories are certainly written on our hearts. Gathering around the dinner table with our families and friends to laugh, feast and reminisce are such rich times, and represent the moments that matter the most to us. We hope that you have a very blessed Mother’s Day and to honor each of you, we would like to share our Apple Sause Bread recipe that you might have had while visiting us here at the Inn.
If you are looking for a Mother’s Day, wedding, anniversary or birthday gift, you might want to consider a Gift Certificate for a stay with us at the Inn. We will be sure to pamper and ensure your loved one has a wonderful visit to Wimberley and the Inn at Sunset Mill Ranch!
Blessings,
Lynn & Diana
