Happy 250th Birthday, America!
It has been a busy July here at the Inn at Sunset Mill Ranch! Many guests joined us to celebrate America’s 250th birthday, enjoying rodeos, parades, swimming, fireworks, and great food both here at the Inn and throughout Wimberley. It has been such a pleasure meeting new guests and welcoming many of you, our dear friends, as you traveled for the World Cup or simply escaped to the beautiful Texas Hill Country for summer adventures.
Along with so many wonderful guests from across the United States, we have also had the privilege of meeting visitors from several other countries. What a joy it has been to hear their stories and experience the wonder and excitement of America through their eyes. They have loved everything from our culture and hospitality to food, and even many of the simple blessings we sometimes take for granted. Their appreciation has reminded us just how special this country truly is.
We recently received some much-needed rain around Wimberley and were grateful to see our streams, rivers, and lakes beginning to refill. At the same time, our hearts go out to our neighbors about 40 miles west of us who experienced devastating flooding in some of the same areas affected last year. Thank you, dear friends, for checking on us. Please continue to pray for those who have suffered loss and, if you are able, consider supporting those helping families recover across Texas.
The new pool is open!
We are excited to announce that our new pool is complete! We are putting the finishing touches on the deck and landscaping, but it is already a beautiful and refreshing addition to the ranch.
The pool was finished just in time for a visit from our sweet niece, Andrea, and her wonderful family. What a blessing it was to spend an entire week making memories together! Lynn, Mat, and the boys enjoyed a fishing trip where everyone caught plenty of fish. We also took a scenic drive through the Hill Country to Fredericksburg, with a stop in Luckenbach, where our amazing Blaise surprised everyone by performing with his guitar and singing for the crowd. We have known for years that Blaise has a special gift, but hearing him perform so confidently and beautifully in such an iconic Texas setting was something we will never forget.
Evenings were just as memorable. We gathered around the firepit, listened to Blaise play and sing, watched World Cup matches on the big outdoor screen, and simply enjoyed spending time together with family and guests.
Luke especially loved fishing, playing with Bailey, swimming in the new pool, and relaxing in the hot tub. Bailey, of course, loved every minute of having the boys around and soaking up everyone’s attention. She was just as sad as the rest of us when it was time for them to head home.
