June 2026 Newsletter
Spring brought lovely weather and much-needed rain to the beautiful Texas Hill Country. Now summer has arrived, and the grass, trees, and wildflowers are bursting with color. It is a busy season here at the Inn, with plenty of projects to keep us occupied, but we make it a priority to spend time together with Bailey each day, enjoying the cooler mornings and evenings on the porch and gathering with friends and family whenever we can.
Bailey is already nine months old and continues to bring us endless joy and laughter with her puppy antics. She takes her job as the Inn’s official greeter very seriously and keeps a watchful eye on the cows, deer, birds, and other critters that wander into view from the porch. She loves her toys and remains full of mischief. More than once, we’ve discovered rolls of toilet paper and important papers mysteriously shredded throughout the house!
Recently, Bailey made a daring escape through the breakfast room door and decided it would be great fun to chase the cows and calves across the property. She completely ignored our calls to stop and come back—until one protective mama cow decided to chase her instead. Suddenly, our commands became much more appealing, and she came running back. As I recounted the story to Lynn while giving her a much-needed bath after her adventure, Bailey seemed genuinely remorseful… or perhaps she was simply exhausted!

Summer is always a special time to slow down and enjoy the people we love. This month, we are thankful to celebrate Father’s Day and Lynn’s mother’s birthday with his parents. While we miss Diana’s parents dearly, we are grateful for the precious memories we shared with them. We have also enjoyed visits from our nieces, nephews, and their families and look forward to spending more time together throughout the summer months.
There always seems to be another project underway around the ranch, but one of our favorite additions is nearing completion. We are converting a concrete stock tank into a refreshing pool where guests can cool off while enjoying the beautiful views near the windmill. A stone walkway surrounding the pool leads to a shaded gathering area beneath several magnificent old oak trees. We have looked forward to adding this unique amenity for quite some time and know guests will appreciate both the refreshing water and the design that complements the character and history of our ranch.
One of the greatest joys of innkeeping is welcoming guests and sharing good food, beautiful surroundings, and meaningful conversations. Many guests comment on the attention to detail throughout the property, both indoors and outdoors. Those kind words remind us not to focus solely on the projects that still remain on our to-do list, but instead to be thankful for the many blessings God has given us.

As we reflect on those blessings, we are reminded that some of life’s greatest accomplishments aren’t measured by completed projects, but by relationships built and nurtured, challenges overcome, lessons learned, and precious memories shared with those we love.
We hope this season provides you with opportunities to slow down, reconnect with family and friends, and create wonderful summer memories. If your plans include a getaway to the Texas Hill Country, we hope they include a stay with us here at the Inn, where you can relax by the pool, porch, or patio and enjoy a delicious homemade breakfast each morning.
